How it works
Vendors quote per million tokens today; older posts and some dashboards quote per thousand. The numbers differ by a factor of a thousand and are easy to misread.
The formula
per_million = price * (1,000,000 / unit); cost = tokens * per_tokenWorked example
With the inputs the page opens on:
- price: 2 USD
- per: 1M tokens
- tokens: 350000 tokens
gives
- per million: $2
- per thousand: $0.00200
- per token: $0.00000200
- cost for tokens: $0.700
- tokens per dollar: 500,000 tokens
